About the shop

Each wood slice is sourced with care from established trades people or those that carry out coppicing; this wood is therefore sustainable as only off cuts or cultivated cuts are used in my work. I love being inspired by the wood piece itself - each will guide me on the type of wildlife that may be best painted on it. I use acrylic paints and a tool box filled with paint brushes (some that are nearly 30 years old!) to paint my pieces. Each piece takes different amounts of time to create depending on its complexity. I have pieces ready to go available in my store but I also love to create custom pieces for people and help bring an idea (or capture a special reminder of a companion) to life for them!

Commissions
Each commission is bespoke, so pricing will be quoted individually based on your requirements, including subject, size and level of detail. Get in touch with your ideas/references. I’ll discuss your requirements and provide a quote. Once you are happy I’ll send you a link to buy.

A note from the maker

My name is Lisa and I’m an artist behind ‘Made With Aroha Art’. I’m based in Berkshire, UK, painting animal portraits and wildlife pieces on raw wood slices; all sourced ethically within the UK. I have a rather full on day job as a project manager and a few years ago I re-embraced painting as my creative outlet! I have lived in the UK for over 30 years now but my roots lie in my New Zealand heritage hence the Aroha for love ❤️ I have many ready made pieces of artwork available to buy via my Etsy store. alternatively I love supporting people with custom pieces, whether that be a portrait of a pet companion or a commission to cover a favourite animal. Please DM me if you’d like to find out any more about my art! https://madewitharohaart.etsy.com

What our reviewer saw

At the workbench

Every shop shows how its work is made before it goes up, and a person checks it. Think these don't match the pieces? Tell us.

  1. 1
First step in my process is selecting the right wood piece for my artwork! I’ll sand it by hand and then sketch the piece onto the wood before even touching a paint brush
  2. 2
Then the base coats of paint will be applied; acrylic paint is used and this step may take several layers depending on how much is soaked up by the wood!
  3. 3
Once the base coats have been applied the detail then gets added…
  4. 4
Each piece is then sealed with a light varnish and signed by me!
