Cookies we set
| Name | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| bh_session | Keeps you signed in. Set when you sign in, removed when you sign out. | 30 days |
| bh_consent | Remembers your answer to the cookie question. | 6 months |
| ph_* | Product analytics (PostHog, hosted in the EU). Only set if you choose "Accept analytics". | 1 year |
The first two are strictly necessary, so they don't need your consent under the UK's PECR rules. PostHog's are optional: you can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
Other storage in your browser
So a shop's view count isn't bumped every time you reload its page, your browser remembers which shops you've viewed during this visit (session storage). It's cleared when you close the tab and is never sent to us.
While you fill in the shop form, your browser also keeps a copy of it (local storage), in case the page closes or we can't be reached. It's removed when you send the form or discard the draft.
If you choose to show the markets map, your browser remembers that so the map opens by itself next time (local storage; "Hide the map" forgets it), and Mapbox's map code keeps a small record of its own there for counting map loads. Neither is a cookie, and neither is set unless you show the map.
Third parties
We don't embed ads. Error reports go to Sentry, which sets no cookies. When you pay, Stripe's checkout page sets its own cookies for fraud prevention; those are covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
