How to find craft fairs and makers' markets near you
Nothing beats picking up a mug before you buy it, or chatting to the person who made it. Here's how to find the fairs and markets worth going to.
Use the markets calendar
Makers on ByHand add the fairs they've booked, and they all go on one markets calendar. Search a town or postcode to see what's on near you, with the makers who'll be there and how far away it is. You can add a market to your own calendar from its listing.
Follow the makers you like
Makers announce new fairs in their monthly updates. Follow a shop and you'll hear when they're next out, or see them all under New from shops you follow in your account.
Other places to look
- Your local council or tourist office's events page, especially near Christmas.
- Venues that host them regularly: town halls, churches, breweries and art centres.
- Local makers' social media, where stall photos go up the week before.
Questions
- When are most craft fairs?
- All year, but the busiest months are November and December, with a second peak in spring. Many towns have a monthly makers' market on a weekend.
