Getting more from craft fairs and makers' markets

Most people who stop at your stall won't buy that day. The ones who'd buy later need a way to find you again: that's what turns a fair into a business.

Before the day

Add the market to your ByHand shop as soon as it's booked. It goes on your shop page and the markets calendar, where shoppers search for fairs near them, and it doesn't use up your monthly update.

On the day

  • Put your stall card on the table: a QR code to your ByHand page, where people can leave a thumbprint and follow you. Print it free from your shop dashboard under Tell people.
  • Tuck a card in every bag, with your website and mailing list.
  • Take card payments. Plenty of people don't carry cash any more.
  • Photograph the stall for your next update.

After

Post an update with a photo of the day and where you'll be next. Everyone who followed you hears about it. Your monthly summary email shows how many people ByHand sent your way that month.

Questions

Does adding a market to ByHand cost anything?
No. Markets are free, go live straight away and don't need a review.
